A petition on the 10 Downing Street website has been launched in an attempt to stop Lottery money being used to plug the funding gap in the 2012 Olympics. It has already passed the minimum 200 signatures required to get an official response from Number 10 when the petition closes on 16 September.
The most popular petitions on the site gather 40,000 signatures or more.
