The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is looking to open a permanent home in Scotland for the first time. A feasibility study carried out in partnership with the University of Dundee could lead to a purpose-built gallery on the banks of the River Tay.
The riverside area is undergoing redevelopment and having the V&A there is seen as having huge potential economic and cultural benefit. The University approached the V&A at the beginning of the year and hope that this could lead to a new building as iconic as Frank Gehrys Guggenheim in Bilbao. Salvador Dalís Mae West Lips Sofa (pictured) is currently on exhibition at the V&A in London as part of Surreal Things: Surrealism and Design until 22 July.
