St Georges Hall in Liverpool is celebrating its £23m restoration by hosting twice-nightly Son et Lumière displays recounting the citys past 800 years. Devised by the Liverpool Culture Company and Ross Ashton, who lit up Buckingham Palace for the Queens 80th birthday, the 30-minute showcase will project on to the rear of the Grade I-listed building. The Son et Lumière will take place from 23 to 29 April 2007.

The West End production, Billy Elliot the Musical has launched a mobile WAP Internet site, created by marketing and advertising agency, aka. The site offers users the opportunity to book tickets via their mobile, download photos and video to their handsets, as well as providing information and news about the production. The launch of the site follows the success of a competition advertised as part of a major outdoor campaign last autumn, when Billy Elliot became the first West End production to invite entrants to text the answer to a question in order to win tickets for the show.

Norwich International Animation Festival has renamed itself Aurora. The move away from the term animation is a deliberate attempt to reflect the festivals move towards a multidisciplinary programme and artistic diversity. Live performance and installation work will complement the film programmes, seminars and symposia events. A new website will be launched in April.

The Charity Commission has launched a public debate on the definition of public benefit. Under the 2006 Charities Act, all charities, including those which advance education or relieve poverty, must show they are established for the public benefit. The charity regulator is calling for views on draft guidance which paves the way for a new public benefit requirement for all charities, to come into force early next year. The debate closes on 6 June.

A project team at Coventry University is creating the UKs first online digital dance archive of the works of Siobhan Davies and is calling for contributions of relevant materials ranging from filmed and recorded performances, photographs, posters, memorabilia and scholarly accounts to new, original, analytic commentaries. The aim is to create a fully searchable archive of material in a variety of different formats for use by dance researchers and the interested public. Contact Paul Allender.

Performance and event technology specialist Northern Light is offering a case of champagne to the person who comes up with the most appropriate name for the character figure wee man who appears in its new logo. The competition closes on 30 April and coincides with the launch of the companys re-developed website.
