Regulations introduced on 1 January require companies to include specific information on correspondence including emails and websites. This includes the company name, registered office address, country of registration and company registration number. Failure can be a criminal offence with fines of up to £1,000 and companies will not be able to enforce contracts where the contract or relevant correspondence is in breach of the rules.

A fifth anniversary report by The International Federation of Arts Councils and Cultural Agencies, which now has more than 100 national members, has been published online. The report, The First Five Years, provides an overview of the five key assets created in that time: networks, research, information, dialogue and connections.

Cumbria Arts in Education, which provides support for schools and artists to help them establish creative collaborations, has launched a new website providing news, details of events and professional development opportunities for both the arts and education sectors. It also includes a database of artists working in and around Cumbria with proven experience of working with young people on creative arts projects.

A new national youth council has been established as part of the Young Peoples Participatory Theatre project, a three-year programme to develop youth and participatory theatre in England. The council will involve 20 young people aged between 14 and 24 from across England, who will play a key role in shaping theatre for young people in each of the nine Arts Council regions. Other activities planned include events developed in partnership with the theatre industry to enable young people to learn more about working in theatre, an interactive website, and an international conference.

A campaign to encourage charity workers to become trustees of voluntary and community organisations in order to gain experience and skills at a board level has been launched by the Governance Hub, in partnership with the Charity Commission and Volunteering England. The Get on Board trustee recruitment campaign aims to bring in a new generation of trustees to manage the countrys charities.

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland will be funding a Fellowship on the Clore Leadership Programme for an outstanding individual who wishes to develop and base their career as a cultural leader in theatre in Northern Ireland. The closing date for applications for this Fellowship is 19 February. Application forms are available online.

The launch of Highland 2007, Scotlands year of Highland culture, has taken place in Inverness, with the official re-opening of the citys Museum and Art Gallery following a £1.3m refurbishment. The initiative is a partnership between three principal funding agencies, The Highland Council, the Scottish Executive, and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and has been designed to promote Scotland as a place to live and to visit. It will incorporate a range of high profile and community events, as well as more than 100 capital projects.
