Birmingham Repertory Theatre (The REP) has appointed Rachel Kavanaugh (pictured) as its new Artistic Director. She was previously Associate Director of The REP, a regular director at the RSC and at the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park. She takes over from Jonathan Church who is the new Artistic Director at Chichester Festival Theatre.

Open Eye, Liverpools contemporary photography gallery, has appointed Monica Nunez as Programme Manager. She previously worked in visual arts organisations in New York, Paris, Madrid and at FACT in Liverpool. Rachael Hazzard, previously Senior Audience Development Manager at TEAM, Merseysides arts marketing agency, has been appointed Marketing & Development Manager. Toby Jackson, former Head of Interpretation and Education at Tate Modern, is the new Chair.

Betsy Gregory (pictured) has been named as Artistic Director Designate of Dance Umbrella. She has worked for Dance Umbrella for eight years, the last three as Associate Artistic Director. Prior to that she was Associate Director of The Place and a founder member of Second Stride. She succeeds Val Bourne CBE who is retiring after 28 years as Artistic Director.

Simon Drysdale, Head of Marketing & Customer Services at Glasgow Cultural Enterprises, is to become Managing Director of Impact Marketing & Distribution. Jane Donald will take over as Head of Sales and Marketing at Glasgow Cultural Enterprises.

The Pump Gallery, a new gallery opening at the Pump Corner in Dorking, will be managed by Mark Trundle, who has previously worked as an artists manager and publisher.

James Toler (pictured) is the new Creative Enterprise Manager at Dartington College of Arts.

Rhiannon Wyn Hughes, Leader of Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Local Government Association spokesperson for Tourism, has been elected Vice Chair by the Council of Arts Council of Wales. She joins Professor Dai Smith who was appointed Interim Chair of ACW last month.

The National Campaign for the Arts (NCA) has appointed two new Campaigns Officers: Alice Judd and Oliver Rickman have both participated in the NCAs Graduate Placement Scheme.

Claire Duffy (pictured) has become Head of Community Partnerships for National Museums Liverpool while Kate Rodenhurst is on maternity leave. Abdullah Badwi is the new Community Development Co-ordinator.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has announced that its Permanent Secretary, Dame Sue Street DCB, will retire in September. She will then take up new opportunities in the private sector, while continuing her association with the arts
