Anwar Akhtar is the new Chief Executive at CIDA, the Cultural Industries Development Agency. Previously the Project Director for the Rich Mix Cultural Foundation, he has also completed the Clore Leadership Programme.

Caroline Newall, Operations Manager for The Playwrights Studio, Scotland, has been appointed as Workshop Director for the National Theatre of Scotland. She is replaced by Gordon Dickson, who previously ran an arts training programme for Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh.

Following the appointment of Rupert Goold as Artistic Director of Oxford Stage Company, Northamptons Royal and Derngate Theatre has appointed Laurie Sansom, currently Associate Director and Education Director at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, as its new Artistic Director.

Eddie Nixon, a recent Clore Fellow and previously a dancer, has been named as the new Associate Director of The Place. Theresa Beattie, Director of Artist Development for the past 10 years, has left The Place to pursue a freelance career.

Chichester Festival Theatre has appointed Howard Buckley, Marketing Manager at The Broadway, Barking, as Marketing Manager. Anna Evans, previously Marketing Trainee at Malvern Theatres is the new Press Officer.

Louise Chantal is the new Programme Director at Londons Riverside Studios. She will continue her involvement in the programming of the Assembly Rooms at the Edinburgh Festival, where she is Theatre Producer.

Stephen Freeman has taken up the newly created post of General Manager at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. He has moved from the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre, where he was Producer and more recently Artistic Programme Manager.

Orchestra of the Swan has appointed Louise Braithwaite, previously Birmingham Royal Ballets Music Assistant and a music education worker for Warwickshire County Music Service and South Manchester Music Service, as Education Manager.

Writer development and training agency, Script, has appointed Sibyl Ruth (pictured) as Programmes Director. She was formerly the Literature Programmer at mac in Birmingham.

Gemma Burns has joined the team at the Brighton Fringe as Administrator, and Laura Chrostowski will become General Manager.

William Village (pictured) has been promoted from General Manager to become Executive Director at the Open Air Theatre. He will now jointly manage the theatre with Artistic Director Ian Talbot, who has stepped down from his role as Managing Director.

The Y Theatre in Leicester has appointed Linda Young, previously a secondary school art teacher, as Education Officer and Kate Madden, a recent graduate of Warwick Universitys Theatre and Performance course, as the Community Arts Administrator.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council has appointed Lisa Mooney Smith to the post of Research Exchange Manager, with responsibility for developing a national research exchange network to help researchers share and access information on research development.

Nadia Shah (pictured) is the new Professional Development Manager for Arts & Business West Midlands. She was previously Policy Executive for Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Business Engagement Executive at Solihull Chamber of Commerce.

Black theatre company Talawa, has announced that playwright Pat Cumper (pictured) will join the organisation as its new Artistic Director in March.

Rick Wills has been appointed as the first Chair of The Prince of Wales Arts & Kids Foundation. He will now establish a board for the Foundation.

The Commonwealth Film Association, which organises the Commonwealth Film Festival, has appointed a new board. Peter Fell, Director of Regional and Economic Affairs at Manchester University, will be Chair and members will include Michael Burke, Michael Fox, Peter Mearns, Andrew Stokes, Vicky Rosin, and Cary Rajinder Sawhney.
