Details of the types of projects that will be welcomed as part of Museums and Galleries Month 2002 have been announced, with collaborative projects, mature audiences and local residents being the focus for next year?s event.
Three themes have been identified for the month?s activity: Celebrating Friendship, linked to the Festival of Friendship which is part of the Commonwealth Games; Celebrating Local History, which links in with Local History Week (May 4-12); and The Jubilee. Museums and galleries planning special events and exhibitions on any of these themes for MGM2002 can apply for grants of up to £5,000 under the Awards for All programme operated jointly by the Lottery distributors.

Smaller museums and galleries in Greater London are to benefit from a special collaboration with the London Museums Agency and the Museum of London, which hopes to highlight the range and diversity of the less well-known venues in the Capital.
