Welsh National Operas Marketing team has won two national awards from the Institute of Direct Marketing for a marketing campaign in which packets of tissues carrying the words Did WNO make you cry last night? were mailed out to customers after the Company staged La bohème in autumn 2006.

Each packet opened up to reveal tissues featuring two more opera weepies, Carmen (pictured) and Madam Butterfly, that could be booked in the following season. The team won the Direct Marketing – Creative award and the Direct Marketing – Innovation award: previous winners for these categories include Tesco Stores Ltd, B&Q and VisitScotland.
