Former BBC producer Shaun Woodward, who was most recently parliamentary undersecretary of state at the Northern Ireland office, has been named the new creative industries and tourism minister in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. He replaces James Purnell, who is now minister of state for pensions at the Department for Work and Pensions.

Graeme Farrow (pictured) has been announced as Director of the 2006 Belfast Festival at Queens, taking over from Stella Hall. He has worked for the Festival in various roles since 1999 and has been Programme Manager for the Queens Film Theatre since January 2005.

After nearly eight years as Director of the National Campaign for the Arts, Victoria Todd is leaving to become Managing Director of One to One Childrens Fund.

Wendy Dempsey, General Manager of Ouroboros Theatre Company in Dublin, has been appointed General Manager of the Dublin Fringe Festival.

Louise ONeil has joined Cahoots NI, the Belfast-based childrens theatre company, as General Manager. She was previously Administrator with Young at Art, organisers of the Belfast Childrens Festival.

Plymouth Arts Centre has announced that Paula Orrell has been appointed to the new position of Curator. She has been an independent curator and lecturer in London since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2001.

Verity Slater has left the post of Project Manager of the Sciart Programme based at the Wellcome Trust, to become Visual Arts Officer (Individuals and Media Arts) at Arts Council England, South East.

Emma Jenkins is the new Press and Marketing Officer for The Castle in Wellingborough. She previously worked for The Public in West Bromwich.

The New Vic Theatre has announced that Theresa Heskins is the new Artistic Director of the Staffordshire producing theatre. Currently Artistic Director of Ludlow-based Pentabus Theatre, she will take up the post when Gwenda Hughes steps down at the end of the year.

Linsey Denholm will head up the communications team at Scottish Screen when she joins next month from Children in Scotland, where she is Communications Manager. Christine McMillan, formerly at Standard Life, has joined as Communications Officer.

inIVA (Institute of International Visual Arts) has announce that Sophie Howarth, currently the Curator of Public Programmes at Tate Modern, will be its new Head of Education & Events.

Daryl Beeton (pictured) is joining childrens theatre company Kazzum as Artistic Director. Following on from a role as Associate Director at The Half Moon Young Peoples Theatre, he will take over from Kazzums founder Peter Glanville.

Lara Raymond has left the press office at Tate Britain to join the press office at the Royal Academy.

The new Director of Arts & Development for Arts Council England, North East is Alison Clark-Jenkins. She previously worked as Creative Director for Creative Partnerships Tees Valley.

Vladimir Jurowski has been appointed Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and will take up the reins as the ensemble moves back to its refurbished Royal Festival Hall home in its 75th anniversary year.
