Celebrations to mark the Chinese New Year on 29 January will form the centrepiece of three months of events in London, billed as the largest celebration of Chinese culture ever seen in the capital. China in London 2006 will feature more than 100 events including The Royal Academys China: The Three Emperors exhibition, events at the Victoria and Albert Museum and a Shanghai on Screen Film Festival in the West End and Docklands.

China in London has been co-ordinated by the Mayor of Londons office and Visit London, and is one of a number of initiatives designed to forge closer links between the city and China. London was recently awarded Approved Destination Status from China, which the Mayors office has described as a major step forward in encouraging more Chinese visitors to the capital.
