The National Theatre of Scotland (NtoS) has unveiled ambitious plans to tour four productions internationally each year, as well as two major national tours and a raft of mid- and small-scale productions, community and youth work. Launching the proposed structure, NtoS Artistic Director, Vicky Featherstone said, ?We want to give people from all over the country the opportunity to see different kinds of theatre, whether that is youth theatre, children?s theatre, site-specific, community or participatory works?
Collaborations between Scottish and international artists to develop new works will also be crucial.? Specific proposals include the creation of NToS Workshop to develop ideas and new artists, a NToS Youth Company, and an ensemble company to tour three small-scale productions each year to rural areas. Many of the touring productions will be created as co-productions and the organisation has made a commitment to work with each Scottish region at least once every year. A specific programme and touring schedule will be released later this year with a likely emphasis on recent Scottish plays.
