MARTIN THOMAS, formerly at Arts Council England, has been appointed Executive Director at Torbay Culture Board, with responsibility for delivering the town’s ten-year Cultural Strategy and Great Place Scheme programme. He takes over from Kate Farmery, who leaves this month to take up a new role at The Box in Plymouth.
DEBBIE HANNAN has been appointed Associate Director of The Bunker Theatre. She will present a new monthly podcast – The Underground Podcast – exploring what needs to change in the theatre industry.
MICHAEL BRAZIER, Director of the National Student Drama Festival since 2012, has left the organisation to pursue new opportunities. Director and Writer James Phillips will be Guest Director for the 2019 festival.
RACHEL LOMAX, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England between 2003 and 2008, has been appointed the new Deputy Chair of the British Council from 1 December. She will succeed BARONESS PRASHAR, who served in the role between 2012 and 2018.
CONRAD NELSON has announced that he will be stepping down as Artistic Director of Northern Broadsides theatre company following ten years in post. He originally joined the organisation in 1992.
After 18 years at The Daily Mail, QUENTIN LETTS has moved to News UK. He will write theatre reviews at The Sunday Times, book reviews for The Times, and regular columns for The Sun.

Theatre company Oily Cart has selected ELLIE GRIFFITHS as its new Artistic Director, and ZOË LALLY as its first ever Executive Director. They will share Chief Executive responsibilities when they join the organisation in 2019, succeeding co-founders TIM WEBB MBE, MAX REINHARDT and CLAIRE DE LOON who have stood down after 37 years in post.
JO GORDON, who joined Royal & Derngate as Director of Marketing and Sales ten years ago and was appointed interim Chief Executive earlier this year, has been selected as the new Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Arts Management Trust, which runs both Royal & Derngate and The Core at Corby Cube.
Birmingham Repertory Theatre has announced that its Artistic Director, ROXANA SILBERT, will be leaving the company to take up the post of Artistic Director of Hampstead Theatre in June 2019. She became Artistic Director of the REP in 2012, leading the company through its re-opening in 2013 following a two-year development.
CHRIS CAMPBELL, Literary Manager of the Royal Court, will join Oberon Books as Senior Editor in January 2019. He was previously Deputy Literary Manager of the National Theatre for six years.
