The British Council has confirmed JOEL MILLS as its new Director for Music following the departure of CATHY GRAHAM OBE.

Mills has worked in music for over 30 years, with a background in both management and leadership across the sector.

She joined the British Council in 2009 and has developed international music and arts programmes in South Asia, East Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

Since joining the British Council Music team, Mills has worked on a number of major events including Resound, British Council’s 75th Anniversary Concert. She has also developed numerous collaborative and professional development programmes with music sector partners including The Great Escape and SXSW.

Mills said she is “thrilled” to be appointed Director.

“I look forward to shaping and growing international opportunities and connections for the UK and international music and arts sectors. Our music and arts ecosystem faces multiple challenges - and the need to work and shape the future together has never been more vital,” she added.
