CATHY GRAHAM is to step down as Director Music at British Council at the end of the month after serving in the role for 15 years.

Since starting in the role in 2007, Graham has led the Music Department in building long-lasting relationships between the UK and the rest of the world.

In 2013, she orchestrated the international celebrations for the Britten Centenary across 41 countries and worked on the development of the World Voice programme, resulting in the training of 12,000 teachers globally.

Graham was also responsible for the UK-Russia Year of Music in 2019-2020, featuring over 200 events in the UK and Russia, and for the three-year Transform Orchestral Leadership project in Brazil.

She presided over the development of Selector Radio, a digital show promoting the best British new music around the world.

In October 2020, Graham received an OBE for services to music and cultural relations.

JOE MILLS will serve as acting Director Music until a successor is appointed.
