An £8m scheme has been put forward to convert a large derelict warehouse into a multi-purpose arts centre, including artists’ studios and workshops, an arts library, gallery spaces and a multifunctional rehearsal space with the potential to seat 250.

Hytner and Starr to open second London theatre

Following the opening of the Bridge Theatre in 2017, the pair, who previously worked together leading the National Theatre, are planning a new 600-seat venue in King’s Cross. The theatre, designed by Haworth Tompkins Architects and Tait, is expected to open in 2021.

McDonough claimed that, when she asked to reduce her working hours from five to four days a week, no decision was taken and she was instead asked about her retirement plans.
