Ahead of the opening of Tate Modern’s new extension, Robert Bevan has a look around and shares some photos.

This is a dream for us,” says Tate Modern’s director, Frances Morris. “From a curatorial point of view, the possibilities are endless.” We are standing on Level 2 of the long-awaited new wing of Tate Modern that opens to the public on June 17. An internal window looks back to the floor of the vast Turbine Hall below, which was hollowed out of the old Bankside power station and helped establish a worldwide image for the art museum when it first opened in 2000. Tate Modern is now the most popular contemporary gallery in the world.
