Culture journalist Richard Morrison offers advice to returning Culture Secretary Nicky Morgan: "you are entering an alien world in which almost nobody voted Tory or for Brexit."

'Dear Nicky,
We have never met. And if history is any guide, you won’t be in the job long enough to get to know journalists covering your field. After all, you are the ninth Tory in nine years to become secretary of state for culture, media, sport and (latterly) digital. Most of your predecessors appeared terrified of being interviewed, presumably because they knew almost nothing about media, sport, digital and culture.
Well I don’t know much myself about media, sport and digital. I have, however, been reporting on cultural matters for more than 40 years. So in the spirit of healing and co-operation, about which the prime minister speaks so touchingly, I offer you this ten-part prospectus for improving Britain’s cultural life. Don’t feel too daunted.
