UK Theatre has appointed JON GILCHRIST and STEPHANIE SIRR as joint presidents, a first in the organisation's history.

Sirr has been Chief Executive of Nottingham Playhouse since 2001. She has been Vice-President of UK Theatre since 2019 and a board member of UK Theatre since 2015 where she sits on the Inclusion and Anti-Racism Working Group, the Finance and Strategy Committee and the Equity Negotiating Committee.

Gilchrist is Executive Director of Manchester's HOME and a previous Executive Director of West London's Bush Theatre. He is one of the Creative Industry Federation’s Future Freelance Champions and has been on the UK Theatre Board since 2015.

"We are delighted to be taking up the roles of Joint Presidents in order to continue the work of recent years to deliver an organisation that really supports our industry in its time of greatest need," the pair said.

"A shared leadership will enable us to focus on a wider range of priorities, and to better reflect the needs of the membership."
