ANGUS MACKECHNIE joins outdoor and site-specific arts organisation Imagineer, based in Coventry, as Creative Director and Chief Executive Officer.

He succeeds CEO and founding director JANE HYTCH, who steps down after 18 years.

MacKechnie is a leading figure in the outdoor arts sector, most recently as Director of OutdoorArtsUK, an organisation championing arts in the public realm.

Previously, he worked at the National Theatre for more than 30 years as a producer and programmer. As Platform Producer, he headed the NT's series of pre-show discussions, interviews, readings and debates. He then went on to lead the outdoor summer arts and entertainment event as Watch This Space Festival Producer.

Hytch said she is “immensely proud” of Imagineer’s achievements over the past 18 years, including securing NPO status.

“Now is the time for me to hand on the baton and I know that MacKechnie brings the right skills, enthusiasm and vision to continue to move the organisation forward.”

MacKechnie said: "I’ve spent so much time in Coventry over the years, chasing performances down the streets, running into culture in unlikely places and getting to know the inspiring creative community - so to be part of such an inventive city feels like a natural homecoming,”

“My ambitions and aspirations for Imagineer are bold and big and I’m looking forward to ensuring that the organisation consolidates its place on the local, national and international cultural map.”
