Christopher Satterthwaite

CHRISTOPHER SATTHERWAITE CBE has been appointed Chair of National Youth Orchestra.

He succeeds DONAGH COLLINS, who has served as Chair on an interim basis for the past year.

Sattherwaite is also a trustee at Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST), a charity supporting the training and education of people working in heritage and contemporary crafts.

Previously, he was Chair at Roundhouse and a trustee at Dulwich Picture Gallery and Watts Gallery. In 2017, he stepped down as Chief Executive of Chime Communications Ltd after 15 years leading the organisation.

Speaking about his new position, Sattherwaite said: "NYO is a wonderful organisation that champions music in developing the lives of young people individually and collectively.

"I look forward to helping it grow its extraordinary impact across the country in every way I can."

Collins said he was delighted to "hand the baton" over to Sattherwaite.

"I am certain he will help the charity achieve great things in a time when creative and collaborative opportunities for young people could not be more vital."
