MARTIN DIMERY, Frome Festival's Creative Director since 2007, will retire after the 2022 festival.

Prior to his work with Frome Festival, Dimery ran the Merlin Theatre at Frome College and Millfield School's Meyer Theatre.

In 2005, he began working as part-time Programme Manager at Frome's Cheese and Grain Hall. He paired this with working at Frome Festival until 2017, when he was elected as one of Somerset's first two Green Party councillors.

He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 2020.

"Directing the Frome Festival has been immensely rewarding and I’ve been greatly honoured to have maintained the position for 15 years," Dimery said.

"Following a year off in 2020 due to Covid, we came back this year with one of the most challenging but widely-appreciated festivals I can recall."
