Celebrities including Dame Judi Dench, Victoria Wood and Sir Ian McKellen will be joining families, patients, nurses, poets and musicians in simultaneous events in 43 countries on October 4 to raise awareness and funds for the hospice and palliative care movement worldwide. This UK-led initiative organised by Voices for Hospices will involve performances in churches, concert halls, theatres and village venues as well as large auditoria.

?Would like to meet??, a one-day event aiming to bring together people interested in new writing for performance in the South East, will take place in Brighton on September 23. The website at http://www.arts4cardiff.co.uk has been shortlisted for an award in the 2003 E-Commerce Awards. Launched two years ago by Cardiff Arts Marketing, it features event listings and news from arts organisations across the city and South East Wales.

The Natural History Museum has been named Large Visitor Attraction of the year at the London Tourism Awards 2003. This year the Museum has welcomed nearly 3 million visitors and opened Phase One of the new Darwin Centre.

Entries are being invited for the £100,000 Gulbenkian Prize for Museums and Galleries 2004. All registered museums and galleries in the UK that have opened, redeveloped or launched an innovative programme of activity during 2003 are eligible to apply before the closing date of October 31.
