A major review of the structure and organisation of the South Bank Centre (SBC) is to take place, initiated by Karsten Witt, SBC Chief Executive, who has announced his intention to step down early next year when the review process is completed.
He said ?From my experience of leading major arts organisations in Europe and my work on the South Bank, I have concluded that SBC should move towards decentralisation with greater autonomy for its flagship venues, the Royal Festival Hall and the Hayward Gallery. This reorganisation is crucial if SBC is to deliver its artistic vision and continue the essential transformation of its site and facilities ... whatever the outcome of the review, the role of Chief Executive should no longer exist in its present form.?
