Half of the recent performances of Winnie the Pooh at the 1,900-seat Wales Millennium Centre (WMC) have included an inter-active introduction in Welsh. Judith Isherwood, Chief Executive of WMC said, ?Reflecting and presenting local, national and international culture is at the core of WMC?s values and aspirations? it is only right that we strive to deliver certain cultural products bilingually to support and aid its growth.?

Devolution has prompted a significant increase in the use of the Welsh language, particularly among children. Forty per cent of children in Wales aged between 3 and 14 now speak Welsh, a figure that stood at 24.5% in 1991.
