A hands-on, interactive gallery providing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the theatre world is at the heart of the new Wales Millennium Centre (WMC), which opened last week. The exhibition, artsExplorer (pictured), includes particular reference to Welsh National Opera, Hijinx Theatre and Diversions Dance House, all based at WMC, and explains the vision of WMC and its building.

Physical, mechanical and multimedia interactives enable visitors to take on the roles of stage director, stage hands and fly operatives to put on a performance of Swan Lake. They can also activate a lighting set with spotlights, footlights, coloured lighting and a ?Pepper?s Ghost?; play a virtual choir on screen; use musical mixing desks and acoustic exhibits; and contribute to a write-your-own poetry wall. Designed by tourism project management company Continuum, the exhibits are designed to be accessible for all to touch and see, enabling visitors complete interactivity and plenty of fun exploration.
