David Farr, currently Joint Artistic Director and co-Chief Executive at the Bristol Old Vic, has been appointed Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith, succeeding Neil Bartlett who has stepped down to concentrate on his own projects.

Greenwich Theatre has appointed Joseph C. Walsh as Head of Musical Theatre and Jay Blackman as Marketing and Education Officer. Hazel Barrows has been promoted to the post of Theatre Manager and Lauren Walker has been recruited as Assistant Theatre Manager.

Actor and director Samuel West has been appointed Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres. He will replace Michael Grandage who steps down in June 2005.

Dr Tom Shakespeare, Director of Outreach at the Policy, Ethics and Life Sciences Research Institute of the University of Newcastle, and founding Chair of the Northern Disability Arts Forum, has been appointed Chair of Arts Council England, North East and a member of the national Arts Council.

Haleh Ahmadian (pictured) has been promoted to Marketing and Sales Manager at The Sherman Theatre in Cardiff. Marketing Officer, Jamie Rees, has been promoted to Deputy Marketing and Sales Manager and will be replaced by Alice Baynham.

Philip Bray, previously General Manager at Nitro, has been appointed Business Development Director at Shape.

Fuel, a new theatre producing partnership, has been established by Louise Blackwell, Kate McGrath and Sarah Quelch.

English Sinfonia has appointed Christine Lee as Acting Chief Executive until May 2005 to cover Lucy Potter?s maternity leave.

Jo Gillibrand, currently Director of audience development agency Smart Audiences, has been appointed Director of All Ways Learning.

Audiences Yorkshire, the audience development agency for the Yorkshire region, has appointed Anna Dunne as Marketing and Campaigns Manager.

Kim Sargeant, formerly Associate Director of the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, has been appointed Artistic Consultant to the Festival van Vlaanderen International (Flanders Festival).

Tom Service has taken over as Artistic Director of Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival for the 2005 Festival, while resident Artistic Director, Susanna Eastburn, takes a year-long sabbatical to complete the Clore Leadership Programme.

Shropshire?s disability arts co-ordinators, DASh, have appointed Paula Dower (pictured), previously Administration and Communications Manager at Vivid, as General Manager.

Duncan McGhie, the present Chairman of Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera is stepping down at the end of the year. He will be replaced by Zoe van Zwanenberg as Chair of Scottish Ballet and William Taylor QC as Chair of Scottish Opera.
