Talks aimed at negotiating a merger between the Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management (ILAM), the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (ISRM) and the National Association for Sports Development (NASD) have ended following ISRM?s withdrawal from the process, which began in April last year.

Studio ON, an interactive centre for training and experimentation in creative learning, new media and the arts, has opened in Belfast. The centre will work with students, teachers, young people and youth workers to provide workshop and moving image media technology projects. It will also support the piloting of new qualifications such as the Moving Image Arts AS Level.

The City & County of Swansea has announced the official formation of a new opera company, Swansea City Opera, and its educational arm, The Opera School Wales. Local authority support for the company has been granted in recognition of the importance that attaining a high-profile cultural status have for the regeneration of a region.

Creative Arts Marketing has become the first arts marketing text to be translated into traditional Chinese (pictured). Co-authored by Liz Hill, co-editor of ArtsProfessional, the Chinese edition has now been published in Taiwan, following the publication of a new English edition in the UK last year.

The Lime Tree art gallery in Fort William is undertaking a £600,000 expansion to enable it to host exhibitions from national collections. The gallery will operate on a semi-commercial basis hosting community events as well as operating a four star hotel.
