A suite of 18 Performance Indicators, developed over an 18-month pilot period by a team of 30 venues, is being put forward to the Audit Commission with a proposal that they should be adopted as a national standard on a more formal basis.
The Indicators provide a range of targets in four categories - Economy, Efficiency, Effectiveness and Equality ? and have been drawn up by participating venues with audience capacities ranging from 350 to 2,200. The development of the Indicators was led by Howard Barnes, the departing General Manager of the Kings? Lynn Corn Exchange which is part of the Arts and Entertainment services in King?s Lynn and West Norfolk. It was recently awarded a Three Star ?Excellent? assessment by the Audit Commission?s Best Value Inspection Service. Howard Barnes said ?Our industry is very disparate and there are few instances of venues communicating and working together. This process has brought us together in a positive way and will help set standards and meaningful comparators for all sizes of performance venue.? Contact Ellen McPhillips t: 01553 765565.
