The Voluntary Arts Network has established, Voluntary Arts England, which will work to support all kinds of voluntary arts activity across the country.
The new agency, supported by the Arts Council of England, draws attention to the growing importance of vountary arts to the cultural life of communities, effectively placing them on the same agenda as the professional arts. The initiative will be headed by a full time coordinator with pilot projects in a number of regions, to test ways of supporting organisations and helping them to develop and serve their communities. In its first year, the agency will be determining a model of provision that will ensure that its services complement and enhance existing regional provision.
