Welsh National Opera (WNO) has opened its inaugural season at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. The company?s spring and summer seasons in Cardiff are already almost sold-out. 28,000 seats have been on sale for 16 performances, and only 300 tickets are left, all for the final two performances of a new Richard Jones production of Berg?s Wozzeck.
WNO?s new pricing strategy includes making 250 tickets each night available for £5. Anthony Freud, General Director of WNO, said, ?Having increased our seating capacity by almost 75% and having virtually sold out two seasons before we even open, we have now sold more than two and a half times more tickets for our spring and summer seasons in Cardiff than at the same time last year.?
