Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has today announced VICKY CHEETHAM and SANDEEP MAHAL as Interim Co-Executive Directors.

Currently members of the senior leadership team, Cheetham and Mahal, will take over from CATHERINE MALLYON in December while the recruitment process for the permanent Executive Director continues.

Cheetham has been RSC's Executive Advisor since January, with previous roles at Tate as Managing Director and London's Southbank Centre as Executive Director, Arts. She has held various roles at the Barbican, including Executive Producer of their international music programme.

Mahal combines her role as Leadership Associate at the company with her position as Director of Sector Change at People Make it Work, a business management consultancy for arts and cultural organisations.

Co-Artistic Directors DANIEL EVANS and TAMARA HARVEY said Cheetham and Mahal have "vast leadership experience" and "a track record of innovation".

"Their existing knowledge of the RSC and practical experience of navigating cultural change makes them ideal collaborators for this moment in the Company’s evolution."

RSC has also named LISA HUGHES Chief Financial Officer and STEPHANIE DITTMER Director of Development.

“This is a time for renewal at the RSC," Evans and Harvey added.

"[Hughes and Dittmer] will be invaluable as we look ahead to the future under new artistic and senior leadership”.
