Cardboard Citizens has announced four new trustees.

The theatre company and social justice charity, focused on the intersection between the arts, poverty, inequity and homelessness, welcomes creative producer and playwright MARCUS BERNARD. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Upsetters, a theatre company aiming to address the underrepresentation and misrepresentation of people of colour.

Joining Bernard is actress, voice artist and employment law solicitor AYESHA CASELY-HAYFORD, who is also a former Chair of The Act For Change Project, trustee of Inc Arts, and a founding member of HIV Voices.

Alongside Casely-Hayford is CHARLIE JOSEPHINE, an actor and writer passionate about producing work that centres working class women and queer people. They are also an associate artist at NSDF (National Student Drama Festival) and Headlong Theatre's current writer in residence.

Also appointed is AJEET JUGNAUTH, a social impact advisor and Director of Curator Community for Sofa Sounds. Jugnauth has worked on community engagement and enterprise support programmes for organisations including the Equality and Human Rights Commission, British Council and online marketplace Etsy.

“This injection of fresh perspectives comes at a key moment for Cardboard Citizens," Executive Director and joint-CEO LISA BRISCOE commented.

"We look forward to sharing what happens next with the support of a superpowered board."
