Bellingham’s Fellowship Inn is to benefit from a £4m restoration, which will see the upper hall of the pub become a live music and theatre venue, with space for 250 people standing or 150 people sitting, and the creation of music studios and a cinema. The building will become home to charity Lewisham Music.

Grant in Aid from the DCMS constituted a larger part of income at the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, Tate and the National Gallery in 2016/17 than the year before, in part due to one-off capital grants, but increases in revenue funding and falls in self-generated income also contributed to the trend.

The 110-seat pub theatre in Islington is planning to create a new a 250-seat auditorium and 85-seat studio in the £400m Islington Square development next door to its current site. The existing theatre will become a dining room for the pub.

Plans for a 300-seat community theatre at Moreton Hall girls' school near Oswestry are being backed by philanthropists who saw the positive benefits of drama through their own daughter’s education. If planning permission  is granted, the theatre will open in 2019.
