Plans for Manchester's flagship venue The Factory are being changed, and the launch date put back by a further six months, after a review of the building's design revealed poor acoustics, an orchestra pit that is too small and an over-complex theatre design. The changes will cost an estimated £1.6m.

A multimillion pound proposal to revitalise a derelict art deco cinema in Dalston, north London, has been approved by Hackney Council. The team behind East London’s Village Underground plan to part-open the ‘Hackney Arts Centre’ later this year and be fully operational in spring 2018.

Following a similar move by Sheffield Theatres last year, Bristol Old Vic theatre will no longer charge customers a transaction fee for bookings made on its website. The £1.50 fee will not be added wholesale to existing ticket prices to compensate, but absorbed into ticket prices across the board.
