National museums relying more on government grants

Grant in Aid from the DCMS constituted a larger part of income at the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, Tate and the National Gallery in 2016/17 than the year before, in part due to one-off capital grants, but increases in revenue funding and falls in self-generated income also contributed to the trend.
