The Living Barracks, Berwick upon Tweed

We are looking to recruit two highly skilled and experienced Producers to join the Cultural Development team for The Living Barracks, to deliver an inspiring and innovative programme working with artists and creative practitioners to engage with existing and new audiences.

Creative Producer – you will work with artists to deliver a new programme of commissions and residencies inspired by the heritage collections of the Living Barracks. 

Engagement Producer - you will deliver a range of creative projects with schools and communities, inspired by the commissions and residencies and the heritage collections of the Living Barracks.

The Living Barracks is a partnership project which will transform a unique heritage site, the 18th century Berwick Barrack, into a dynamic cultural hub for local people and for visitors. The partners are: English Heritage, The Maltings (Berwick) Trust, The King's Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) the Berwick Record Office and Northumberland County Council.

The post holders will ensure the delivery and achievement of the outcomes for the cultural development programme for The Living Barracks, working with The Living Barracks partners to draw on the rich cultural heritage of the site and the museum and archive collections.

These are proactive, outward-facing roles and the post holders will be passionate about delivering inspiring and memorable commissions and residencies and experienced in producing creative engagement projects, confident in partnership working and be determined to build and deliver a strong, impactful, programme of activity. 

Both posts are funded by the UK Government Cultural Development Fund (CDF)/ACE and both are offered as full–time, temporary contracts for 2 years from July 2024 – June 2026.

Hours: Full time 37.5 per week. 25 days annual leave plus public holiday

Fixed term post: July 2024 – June 2026 (We are also willing to consider offering this role as a freelance contract).

The Cultural Development Programme contract is managed by the Maltings (Berwick) Trust on behalf of The Living Barracks partnership.
