Arts Quarter report shows a mixed picture for recipients of ACE's Capacity Building and Match Funding awards.
Less than half of the organisations that received Catalyst Capacity Building and Match Funding awards from Arts Council England (ACE) are ‘completely confident’ that they will reach the fundraising targets they set out in their original bids. Of those who aren’t, key concerns are over hitting targets for donations from individual givers, as well as the total number of donors available.
A report compiled by Arts Quarter reveals the effects of the funding since it was awarded in May this year: 78% of organisations reported that they had or were about to use the grant to appoint fundraising staff and 46% that they had or were about to appoint freelance fundraising support, while 32% had commissioned fundraising research. The report also shows a small rise in the numbers of Trustees who show an understanding of fundraising strategy, compared to when similar questions were asked in April. However, nearly 20% have not yet articulated a ‘Case for Support’ to demonstrate to current and potential donors why the organisation needs financial subsidy.
