Management teams from a number of arts organisations were celebrated in the UK Theatre Awards, among them Newcastle Theatre Royal, Rambert, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Curve Theatre, Watford Palace Theatre and mac Birmingham.

Newcastle Theatre Royal emerged as the overall winner in the Most Welcoming Theatre award, earning the largest proportion of the 40,000 public votes, but the awards also announced 12 regional and national winners in the category for the first time. The news comes after Newcastle Theatre Royal won ‘Receiving Venue Team of the Year’ in the Technical Theatre Awards and posted record-high returns in its annual report for 2014-15.

The award for Achievement in Marketing went to dance organisation Rambert, which took to Facebook to say that it was delighted to have won “for developing audiences for dance, resulting in record attendances during 2014-15”. Gaby Paradis, of West Yorkshire Playhouse, and Dorothy Wilson, of mac Birmingham, jointly won the UK Theatre Insurance Award for Manager of the Year.

In addition, both Curve Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre accepted the award for achievements in diversity; Curve for its diversity action plan and strategy targeted at the age-profile and multiculturalism of the city, and Watford for its initiatives to ensure it offers and develops services for the widest range of the population.
