Musicians are this year to be included in Creative Scotland’s 'Made in Scotland' initiative, which funds native artists performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  The scheme, which has previously supported theatre and dance, has received an £100k boost from the Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund, which has invested £8m in new Scottish-based work at Edinburgh’s 12 festivals since 2008/09. Funding is intended to support the cost of presenting new work and help to reduce the financial risk of putting on a show. Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop, described the inclusion of musicians as “a natural next step” for the funding scheme.
