Chancellor George Osborne announced a £30m cut for the DCMS as part of his £4.5bn savings plan for 2015-16. Arts Council England has been asked to make savings of 0.3% this year, which Chair Sir Peter Bazalgette says will be made internally. Government departments expect further cuts of £30bn over the next two years to be announced in the emergency budget on 8 July.

The Jubilee Amphitheatre in Oadby’s Brocks Hill Country Park will be used by professional, amateur and community theatre groups. It was funded by the borough council, which manages the park.

Four theatres, including Bristol Old Vic, join the Writers' Centre Norwich in a new Creative England programme aimed at helping emerging writers develop film writing skills.
