London music and arts venue the Forge will shut down after eight years in operation. Co-founder Adam Caird said: “Running a music venue in these times is exceptionally tough”.

Annual figures from the Society of London Theatre show box office revenue grew for the 13th year in a row in 2016, while average audience levels increased from 776 per performance to 801 with over three quarters of all available seats filled – a new record.
