Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) has been awarded £422k in funding to deliver a new traineeship programme for non-graduates. ‘Heritage Horizons’, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s ‘Skills for the Future’ programme, aims to increase diversity in the sector by offering one-year accredited, vocational traineeships to committed non-graduates. MGS has run an internship programmes for graduates for two years and Heritage Horizons hopes to build on the success of this. Trainees will earn an SVQ Level 4 vocational qualification in Museum Practice. The programme will commence this autumn.
