A new National Centre for Choreography has been opened by DanceEast at the Jerwood DanceHouse in Ipswich. The new centre will be the UK’s only research and development space for experienced choreographers to explore new areas and experiment freely with other artists – without the pressures of producing a final product. English National Ballet has stepped forward to offer support for the Centre, and other partners and a full list of artistic advisers will be announced shortly. The centre will be open to “choreographers who have demonstrated an individual voice of great quality” and who have a proven track record, and involvement will be by invitation.
