Birmingham Repertory Theatre is to begin its first ever offsite season, as it closes its building for a refurbishment. The Rep’s building has been home to the company since 1971 and the theatre’s temporary move is a result of its partnership with the new Library of Birmingham – currently under construction. The Rep’s building is being renovated as part of this development and while work takes place the company will perform at different venues across the city before returning to its newly refurbished home in 2013. From 2013, the theatre sales team will operate under a new name, The BOX, and sell tickets for The Rep’s off-site programme and for a range of other city events and venues.
