A new project by award-winning arts documentary maker Phil Grabsky will be making blockbuster art exhibitions from across the world accessible to cinema-goers in 30 countries and several languages. Forthcoming exhibitions of works by artists including Manet, Munch and Vermeer will be explored in films that, as well as covering the exhibitions’ paintings, will examine questions such as what lies behind the exhibition, creatively and technically, and what the paintings reveal about the artist, or the historical period when they were created. Art historian and broadcaster Tim Marlow will act as the presenter and guide through each exhibition, using material filmed both at the exhibitions and on location. The 2013 ‘Exhibition’ series will begin with ‘Manet’ from the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Grabsky said: “If you can't get to the RA you have to see the film. And if you are lucky enough to get a ticket to the RA, then you'll want to see the film even more!”
