Eighteen of the UK’s arts institutions, including Cornerhouse in Manchester, Arnolfini in Bristol, Firstsite in Colchester, and Grizedale Arts in the Lake District, have joined with Tate to form ‘Plus Tate’, a new scheme under which Tate’s resources will be used for the benefit of the wider public. By contributing to a network of organisations and individuals, Tate aims to expand its reach and increase public access to the national collection of British and international modern and contemporary art. The whole group will exchange ideas, knowledge, skills and resources, as well as programmes and collections. Dave Moutrey, Chief Executive of Cornerhouse, said: “We’re looking forward to sharing our resources and our knowledge of emerging artists and trends to create exciting new projects, programme opportunities and new ways of engaging audiences.” Alistair Hudson, Deputy Director of Grizedale Arts, said that “this partnership with Tate increases our ability to bring high quality work to the region… it’s very much an equal relationship”.
