Operating integrated, cross-cutting approaches to cultural policy and practice can bring real benefits to local authorities, according to an evaluation of the Department for Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) Cultural Pathfinder Programme.
The two-year pilot programme, which ended in March, was commissioned by the DCMS to explore the ways in which cultural services can meet the needs of local communities. The evaluation, published by De Montfort University, also found that working strategically in partnership is key to delivering outcomes, that leadership is critical and needs developing, and that attracting investment requires good baseline information.
