A thousand international passengers travelling from Edinburgh Airport have left Scotland with a copy of Kirsty Gunns novella, The Boy and the Sea, which was awarded the £25,000 Sundial Scottish Arts Council (SAC) Book of the Year Award 2007 at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The aim of the airport giveaway, funded by SAC, in partnership with BAA Edinburgh and publisher Faber & Faber, was to send travellers home with a lasting reminder of Scotland as a creative country. A DVD celebrating Scotlands artistic excellence and enthusiasm for innovation, made by SAC for an international audience, was also available to travellers.
