The London Festival, now in it's 15th year

BBC Radio 3 has renewed its commitment to support the London Jazz Festival through to 2012. Now in its 15th year, the 10-day annual Festival concluded last month, having involved more than 1,500 artists and presented 50% more gigs at 25% more venues than the previous year. Over 50,000 people attended ticketed events, with another 10,000 going to the free shows. The Festival’s learning and participation programme included a performance from a massed choir of primary school children at the artsdepot in Finchley, the continuation of The Write Stuff initiative giving aspiring journalists the chance to develop their skills, and singing workshops with Claire Martin.
