Cultural organisations are being asked for their views on cultural education and how to encourage creativity through culture. The think-tank Demos has launched its consultation paper ‘Culture and Learning: Towards a New Agenda’, and is asking for opinions on how to embed cultural learning in the education sector, identify leaders of cultural learning and develop a shared definition of excellence.

The paper, by John Holden, draws on recent Government-backed announcements including the McMaster Review, ‘Supporting Excellence in the Arts’, and the recently published Children’s Plan. It was commissioned by a group of seven major grant-giving trusts, including the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The consultation will be managed by a steering group of representatives from education, the arts and the Learning & Skills Council. Participants can contribute online.
